Nostalgic Filipino Christmas felt at Kain Tayo’s first major event, ‘Paskuhan Village’ at Parkdale Hall in Toronto. Paula Saraza reports.
“Kain Tayo is a way of opening our home, opening our table for another person to sit, join you and get to know you,” that sums up Paskuhan Village’s traditional Filipino Christmas festivities conceived by Sunshine Asuncion, the creative mind behind Kain Tayo, which literally translates to “let’s eat” in English. Its deeper and symbolic meaning is what she articulated. On Saturday, Nov. 8, a sizable number of Filipinos and non-Filipinos walked in at Parkdale Hall in Toronto’s West end to partake of Filipino food and an assortment of items by vendors – all in celebration of Christmas.
